I’m Frank Merlo and I started Frank Food LLC in 2015. I’m fulfilling my dream of owning a specialty food business, and it’s been a fantastic
adventure.
Prior to starting Frank Food, I worked as a Nuclear Technologist at the renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for many years. But the lure of the food industry was hard to resist.
My fascination with the restaurant business began at age 16 when I started working in the Long Island restaurant Scotch 'N Sirloin.
It was not long before I worked my way up the ranks to cook and eventually kitchen manager, where I perfected many of the sauces used by the restaurant. My specialty, of course, was my cocktail sauce.
While attending college, I also worked at some of the most popular restaurants in Long Island and New York City , most notably Vincent’s Clam Bar in Carle Place, Long Island, Carmines in Manhattan, Peter Luger’s in Brooklyn.
These days you can find both the original and fresh versions of Merlo's Cocktail Sauce at many locations in Connecticut and New York, and the list of locations is growing all the time.
I’m proud to say that we have been donating our products to the Connecticut Food Share in the last several years.
Merlo’s Cocktail Sauce is a shout-out to my days in the kitchen, which always feels like home.

Merlo’s Cocktail Sauce was carefully developed over several years of experimenting with different flavor combinations to reach just the right balance of hot and sweet. The result is a bold sauce with complexity.
Ketchup (tomato concentrate from red ripe tomatoes, distilled vinegar, sugar, salt, onion powder, spice, natural flavorings), fresh horseradish, tomato paste, white vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire Sauce (distilled white vinegar, molasses, water, sugar, onion, anchovies, salt, garlic, cloves, tamarind extract, chili pepper powder, natural flavorings), lemon juice, hot sauce (pepper, vinegar, salt), water, chopped onion, salt, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, cloves, crushed red pepper.

A blend of softly simmered tomato broth and clam juice. All natural ingredients.
How To Use – Bring Merlo's Zuppa to a strong simmer and cook your favorite seafood or meat in it.
Serve over pasta. It's That Simple.
Serves 12-15 cocktails
(Makes approximately ½ gallon)
1.75 jars Merlo’s Cocktail Sauce
46 oz. Sacramento tomato juice
5.5 ounces fresh lemon juice
8 ounces prepared horseradish
½ tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
Mix well. Add your favorite Vodka. Enjoy!
6 tablespoons Merlo’s Cocktail Sauce
16 oz. full fat sour cream
Gently whisk Merlo’s Cocktail Sauce and sour cream together, and sprinkle with a light dusting of paprika.
Serve with a variety of seasonal fresh veggies, Kettle Chips or Ritz crackers
